Lenovo vows to revive smartphone business

The new Zuk Z2 packs a Snapdragon 820 CPU, 4 GB of RAM, USB Type-C and more powerful specs, all at a sub-$300 price point.

Following the release of Z2 Pro, Lenovo launches the Zuk Z2, a slightly watered-down version of the company's current flagship phone.

Lenovo has launched its latest handset, the ZUK Z2, and like the previous smartphones in the ZUK line it sports a Fingerprint Cards (FPC) touch fingerprint sensor.

As you might suspect, China will be the first region to receive the ZUK Z2 release and it will carry a price of 1,799 YUAN which equates to around $275 bucks in the states.

James Yan, research director at Counterpoint Technology Market Research, said Lenovo's efforts at rebuilding its image are now squarely focused on the ZUK smartphone brand, but that it would find it "difficult to get back into the top three, or five, of the domestic smartphone market within a short time". The device will go on sale from 7 June in China and registrations for the same begin today.

The ZUK Z2 smartphone features a metal body with a 5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) LCD display with 2.5D curved glass and 414ppi pixel density. Phone also runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow on but is topped by the ZUI 2.0 interface. The Lenovo Zuk Z2 is equipped with a 64GB of Internal storage and that is expected to expand Via.

The 8.45mm thick Zuk Z2 comes with 3500mAh battery and supports Qualcomm's latest Quick Charge 3.0 technology. The company claims that the new Handset will charge up to 80 percent in one hour.

The Lenovo Zuk Z2 further features dual-SIM support, Cat. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, 3G, 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India). Currently, customers can choose between black and white colors.
