At the ongoing Computex 2016 trade show in Taipei, Asus has launched the next-generation Zenfone 3-series smartphones. But will that be the only factor to consider for a demanding smartphone consumer market? There's also a 4 GB RAM, 64 GB ROM, 16 MP rear camera with Sony IMX298 sensor, and a battery of 3,000 mAh.
Starting off with the range-topping model, we have the ZenFone 3 Deluxe which sports an aluminum unibody design with absolutely no antenna lines. The company hasn't yet provided information on release dates. They have comparable specs to the Ultra, but are clocked down a little bit in some areas like the main processor. For selfies, it has 8-megapixel front facing snapper. It is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor paired with Adreno 530GPU, 6GB of RAM.
The Zenfone 3 Ultra is the largest among the three with its large 6.8-inch LCD screen with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080. The standard Asus ZenFone 3 includes a 5.5-inch Full HD (1,920-by-1,080) Super In-Plane Switching (IPS+) display, as well as scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass front and rear covers for durability. It is available in blue, white, gold, and black.
The largest among the three phones, ZenFone 3 Ultra somes with a large 6.8-inch Full HD display with 95% NTSC color gamut. The device comes equipped with a fingerprint sensor and offers 4G, LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and USB Type C as connectivity options.
On the other hand, the ASUS ZenFone 3 Ultra boasts of a "groundbreaking" 23-megapixel camera with light-speed auto-focus and electronic and optical image stabilization features. The Ultra is also the world's first smartphone with virtual 7.1-channel surround sound with DTS, claims Asus. The Deluxe model is available in Titanium Gray, Glacier Silver and Sand Gold colors.
ZenFone 3 Deluxe will be fitted with superior 23MP front camera with laser/phase detection autofocus, OIS (4-axis), dual-LED (dual tone) flash. Other common features of the new ZenFone 3 smartphones include Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS with ZenUI 3.0, fingerprint scanner, IR sensor and other sensors. The phablet also features two new powerful five-magnet stereo speakers and a NXP smart amplifier to deliver high quality audio. The phone has USB-C for charging and sync and if you're charging the smartphone, you will notice that it provides support for Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0.
