HTC Announces New Smartphone, the HTC 10, Coming Late-April

HTC is promising a better camera, along with refinements in audio and design, as it unveils its latest flagship phone, the HTC 10. HTC skipped its BoomSound speakers with the previous flagship device, the One A9, however this time it brings it back with a boom! The designing of HTC 10 took almost one year; with HTC integrating feedback from its customers throughout the handset's development process.

The HTC 10 comes with 5.2-inch display with 2K resolution. The screen is covered in Gorilla Glass with curved edges that blend into the phone's metal frame.

The HTC 10 runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 2.2 GHz quad-core processor with 4 GB of RAM and enhanced 4G LTE.

Today HTC ditched both the "One M" moniker from its phones, announcing the rather drearily named HTC 10. Hardware includes 4GB of RAM of RAM with microSD expansion and 32GB and 64GB internal storage options, a 3,000mah battery with Quick Charge 3.0, and a USB Type-C port.

HTC 10 features an all-metal body with chamfered edges that reflect the light to give the phone an impression of being among the shiniest handsets around. The smartphone also features a fingerprint sensor on the home button. The camera is now 12 megapixels, the same as the latest iPhones and Samsung Galaxy phones.

It doesn't look like an iPhone, which is a bonus. It flaunts a 12MP Sony IMX377 camera featuring 1.55mm lens, laser autofocus and PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus).

The phone has a 12 MP camera with ultra pixel (bigger pixel sizes for better quality) and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) technology.

The front-facing camera is a 5-megapixels, again with an aperture of f/1.8 like the rear snapper. The sound will be nice though thanks to upscaled audio and DAC, something audiophiles will surely appreciate. HTC 10 will come with a pair of high-quality headphones in-box. The outfit said it worked with Google to reduce duplicative apps, and the 10 uses Google's apps for key things such as calendar, photos, and music. The company had hoped to receive a boost from the release of two new models in the second half of 2015, but it didn't rank among IDC's top five smartphone vendors worldwide in the fourth quarter of a year ago. The phone will start shipping by the end of this month in Carbon Grey, Glacial Silver, Topaz Gold and Camellia Red color variants.
