Earlier this month, BlackBerry announced that it'd be testing the BlackBerry Priv's Android 6.0 Marshmallow update with a public beta program. One will include a physical keyboard to appease fans of the company's iconic handsets and the other will sport a full touchscreen to appeal towards consumers who have adopted the modern smartphone form factor.
The company has no plans to develop handsets for its BlackBerry 10 operating system, but will continue to release updates for existing devices. Both phones are targeted at the mid-market.
Hopefully the two mid-range smartphones BlackBerry releases in 2016 will be able to make the company's top-notch security and devices more accessible for more users.
This might not hurt Blackberry in another particular niche, the enterprise space: once known as a business device, Blackberries might still be useful for business owners and employees who want security without needing the social functions of the more expensive iPhone.

BlackBerry recently announced that they would be releasing an Android Marshmallow beta for their Priv smartphone and now BlackBerry has announced that the beta will start to roll out today.
"If I can't make it profitable because the market won't let me, then I'll get out of the handset business", Chen also reportedly said.
Two Blackberry Android smartphones are coming later this year, part of the company's continued efforts to find a niche in the current tech landscape.
