Sony rumored to only produce two Xperia smartphones next year

The largest one out of the lot would be the 6.4-inch Xperia Z6 Ultra. A new rumor suggests they company will only produce two smartphones next year - something we find hard to believe.

Check out the comparison which includes the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the Sony Xperia Z5 premium embedded below.

Reporting on the rumor, TechRadar states that the Xperia Z6 will finally stop relying on the "OmniBalance" design system which was seen on previous smartphones in the lineup and feature more metal this time around.

The news was released by the source cnBeta (via phonearena). The Sony Xperia Z6 is one of the targeted devices, and if the rumors are accurate, it will impress in all the possible ways.

According to an earlier post by AnTuTu on Weibo, the electronics company intends to release five new variants in 2016: the 5.2-inch Xperia Z6, the 4.6-inch Z6 Compact, the 4-inch Xperia Z6 Mini and the Xperia Z6 Plus which comes with a 5.8-inch display. But now, a new report from China said the Japanese tech giant would only be releasing two major devices in 2016.

The Xperia Z5 Premium is Sony's first phablet-sized flagship, and is the world's first smartphone to feature a 4K display. One example is the 4K display, and while the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium makes use of it, we are cheated in the way that it is not always in use. Variations of the smartphone had little differences between them, like the Xperia Z3+ and Xperia Z4v.

"Secondly, many third-party apps are not designed or capable of running at 4K resolution (yet), but as Xperia Z5 Premium's display hardware has a 3840x2160 resolution (4K SID standard) with 806ppi, we feel we've created a future-proof device for the imaginations, developers and apps of the future", he added.

The Xperia Z5 series consists of three devices. It seems that the Z6 will be launched as soon as June 2016, so we only have to wait a few months more to see how it will actually be.
