New information has surfaced around the new iPhone 8 (or, it turns out, the iPhone X) after an Apple employee shared sensitive information about Apple's new iOS 11 build. The leak revealed outlines of the new iPhone X adopting a newer, bigger screen that looks a lot like the 18:9 aspect ratio displays found on the LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8.
It's safe to say that there will be a new phone announced at Apple's keynote event on 12 September 2017, which takes place at Apple's Campus in Cupertino, California. The event will take place at 6pm UK time (10am PDT local time). You can watch the live stream directly on the company's website.
We've been itching for a new iPhone for some time now, especially after last year's iPhone 7 left us a little unimpressed. There might be three different iPhones launching this year too, should rumours be believed, with 4.7in, 5.5in and 5.8in variants of the iPhone rumoured.

It's also the ten-year anniversary of the iPhone – which means we might get an Anniversary Edition of the new iPhone, new names and an entirely different look to what we're used to. If you want to read about how much the iPhone has progressed in its ten-year lifespan, you can read a great little iPhone retrospective over on our sister site Alphr. Ah, memories.
The new iPhone is tipped to have a Samsung OLED screen, which will provide an accurate and vivid colours. Most importantly, it will be the first 18:9 iPhone ever made. This follows on from the LG G6 and the Samsung Galaxy S8. Here, we've rounded up all the key details you need to know about Apple's iPhone 8, including UK release date, UK price, design, specs and new features.
The new iPhone 2017: What will it be called? In the past, the latest iPhone's name hasn't been a mystery – with the exception of the iPhone SE. Apple has always chosen to keep a chronological, numerical system with its iPhones. However, this year we could see it all change. With the ten-year anniversary of the iPhone, Apple might choose to stir things up.
Current rumours suggest a few possible names: the new iPhone, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X. We could even see something like the iPhone AE (anniversary edition). in this article, we'll stick to iPhone 8 until we hear anything official from Apple.
iPhone 8 price: How much is the new iPhone in the UK?Apple hasn't deviated too much from its iPhone launch price since the iPhone 5s way back in 2013. Because of this, it's reasonably safe to assume that the iPhone 8 won't detour too far away from a rough £600-ish asking price.
Of course, while Apple is likely to stick to roughly the same pricing structure, its configurations might differ from previous years – with the possibility of more storage options. If the base model launches with more storage, expect its lowest asking price to jump up slightly. This section will be updated as soon as we hear any official UK price information.

iPhone 8 release date: When does the new iPhone come out in the UK?The iPhone 8 will officially show its face on 12 September. That's right – tomorrow, we'll get to see exactly what Apple's latest flagship holds, including its fancy new features and any new design innovations. And it already looks like there will be plenty.
Be warned, though, the iPhone 8 might not show up in shops particularly quickly. Recent reports suggest that a limited availability of the handset will mean the bulk of people won't be able to get their hands on an iPhone 8 until the fourth quarter of 2017.
Renowned leaker Evan Blass thinks pre-orders will start on 15 September 2017, with a release/ship date of 22 September 2017. Let's hope we don't have to wait until 2018.
iPhone 8 design: Does the new 2017 iPhone look different? If recent reports are to be believed, the iPhone 8 will be a drastic departure from handsets of old when it comes to design. Plenty of leaked pictures, renders and case details suggest the iPhone 8, is going the all-display route, similar to what Samsung and LG have been doing to their handsets recently.
This bezel-less display is a first for iPhone, and will likely jack up the asking price. Display technology isn't cheap, and when it's as big as this, there's no doubt Apple will ask for a little more.
Because of this dominating display front, it looks like the Home button will be ditched, and with it the removal of the Touch ID scanner. Who knows? Apple might find a way to plonk it somewhere else, but we'll have to wait and see.
iPhone 8 specs: What's new inside?Obviously, the first thing is that all-display screen for starters. It's the first thing you'll notice when you take it out of the box, but there's something even more interesting about it. The iPhone 8's display is looking increasingly likely to be an OLED panel this year, with an 18:9 aspect ratio, making it the largest, most impressive screen on an iPhone ever. There's also talk that Apple with incorporate its True Tone technology on the new iPhone, which is something Apple uses on its iPad Pro range, for improved colour accuracy and excellent contrast ratio.
That's right – taking a stab at what Samsung has been doing for years, the iPhone 8 will benefit from OLED technology, with a greater dynamic range of colours and forgoing the need for screen backlighting, potentially saving power.
Internally, expect to see an update to Apple's SoC chip in the iPhone 8, with last year's iPhone 7 running the A10 Fusion chip. The iPhone will likely run Apple's latest processor, the rumoured A11 Fusion. Could this be the first 10nm chip in an iPhone? We'll have to wait and see.
Camera-wise, it's looking very likely that Apple will incorporate the same, if not similar, dual-camera tech found inside last year's iPhone 7 Plus. Expect to see two lenses: one wide-angle and the other telephoto, with both benefitting from optical image stabilisation (OIS) tech.
iPhone 8 featuresThe iPhone 8 won't have a physical home button. Because of that massive display taking up all the space on the front, there's no space for it, so don't expect Touch ID to make an appearance either. Perhaps it'll be incorporated somewhere else? We won't have to wait long to find out.
Leaked case renders suggest the possibility of a rear fingerprint scanner, and we could see biometric security, like with Samsung's Galaxy S8, make an appearance too. Iris recognition could very well be a possibility.
Last year's iPhone 7 was all about water resistance, something plenty of Android phones have touted over the past few years. Considering Apple is usually one to pick up popular Android features, it's pretty likely we'll see the iPhone 8 launch with wireless charging, the same with Samsung's Galaxy S8.
Earlier this year, Apple joined the Wireless Power Consortium, the organisation that looks after the standards involved with wireless charging technology. That's the biggest proof yet that the iPhone 8 will have wireless charging capability.
iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X: Could there be three new iPhones this year? There's a lot of new stuff when it comes to the iPhone 8 then, but there's one big aspect yet to be discussed. There might be three – count 'em – three iPhones launching this year.
Yeah, you heard me correctly – Apple is primed to launch three brand-new iPhones in 2017. This year will see the appearance of the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and a special anniversary edition iPhone: the iPhone X.
The latter of which is set to ship with all the features I've discussed above, while the iPhone 8 and its plus-sized alternative will offer marginal upgrades over last year's iPhone 7. A few subtle design changes – a curved glass back for instance – and some internal processor upgrades are on the cards. Expect these to be the cheaper alternatives come launch.
