Despite the onslaught of rumours, the Nokia 8 still hasn't been officially confirmed. Here's what we know so far about the new phone, including details on the Nokia 8 release date, specs, design, features, price and UK launch.
Back in late 2016, a Finnish firm called HMD Global launched with plans to sell phones under its newly-purchased Nokia license. Fast forward a few months and we were graced with three Android handsets – Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 – plus a retro-style Nokia 3310 reboot. So what's next?
Well, it's widely rumoured that HMD is now still working on its first flagship Nokia device, and it's supposedly going to be called the Nokia 8 – although it's also been tipped under the names Nokia P1 and Nokia 9.
Here's everything you need to know.

Nokia hasn't officially commented on the prospect of a Nokia 8, so we can't really say for certain when the device will launch.
That said, Nokia has scheduled a launch event for an unnamed product in London on August 16, 2017. That's a matter of weeks before Berlin's annual IFA 2017 tradeshow and days before the supposed launch of Samsung's next flagship phone, the Galaxy Note 8.
If we were placing bets, we'd put the flagship Nokia phone – whatever it may be called – as launching either at this August 16 event or at IFA. However, this hasn't been confirmed, so don't get your hopes up.
Nokia 8 Design, Specs and FeaturesThanks to a healthy amount of leaks, we already have a good idea of what to expect from the Nokia 8.
Nokia 8 DesignThis is going to be a flagship phone, which means we're expecting to see the usual premium design motifs. For a start, it's rumoured that there'll be a 6000-series aluminium body, which will be available in a number of colours, rumoured to include blue, grey, and gold.
The best look at the device comes from prolific leaker and Venture Beat journalist Evan Blass, who revealed what's claimed to be the Nokia 8 in both render and video form on Twitter.
Here are the relevant tweets:
As you can see, the handset looks fairly typical of a modern flagship, with rounded corners and a Home button on the front – touting a fingerprint scanner inside too. There are also what appear to be capacitative Android navigation keys embedded on the bezel either side of the Home button.

Nokia 8 Specs and FeaturesWe've seen a number of spec leaks for the phone, most valuably from reputable sources like Evan Blass and the AnTuTu benchmarking software. Based on all these rumours, here's what we think the Nokia 8 spec sheet will look like:
Of course, Nokia hasn't confirmed any official details, so it's still impossible to say for certain about the Nokia 8 hardware. We recommend taking all leaks with due caution until an official announcement.
As far as pricing goes, we're largely in the dark. We've only heard fleeting rumours about how much the Nokia 8 will cost, but it's not much to go on.
What we do know is that we're expecting the phone to be a flagship-grade device, which means it will probably be expensive – the most expensive Nokia handset produced by HMD, at the very least.
In 2017, most flagship phones tend to launch somewhere between £599 and £699, although Chinese phone makers are regularly undercutting these price points. We'd expect HMD to follow typical western market pricing however, and launch the phone for at least £599, especially if the rumoured specs are true.
The only leak worth mentioning comes from a website called Mobilissimo, which claims a "reliable source" with knowledge of the matter says Vodafone Romania will be selling the phone for €517.42. That works out at around £465 in the UK and $605 in the USA, which is a bit cheaper than what we'd expect.
