Huge Leak: Samsung Galaxy S8 Release Date Revealed

Huge Leak: Samsung Galaxy S8 Release Date Revealed

We now have a confirmed released date for the Samsung Galaxy S8, so mark your calendars: the new phone will be released on the 21st of April, according to reports. Rumors had suggested that orders of the Galaxy S8 could begin April 10, and others suggested that it might get delayed to April 28, but it now appears that April 21 will be the official release date.

The Galaxy appears likely to come in two variants: the S8 and the S8+. Some of the umored specs include a 5.7 inch display with a Snapdragon 835 processor. It should have maximum total storage capacity of 384 gigabytes, and 12 megapixels.

Samsung has issued invites to its "Unpacked" event, which is when it usually unveils a new Galaxy smartphone. Right now, it appears Samsung will announce it on March 29.

Here's what Wikipedia says about the S8.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is an upcoming smartphone, which will be released simultaneously in London and New York City at "Unpacked Samsung" on 29 March 2017,[1], with pre-orders reported to commence on April 10.[2] Release of this phone was delayed by further development to address a serious problem of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.[3]

The Galaxy S8 was originally teased at Mobile World Congress on 26 February 2017.[4] The teaser included a brief video with generic images. The main impression was that it implied a screen with a 2:1 aspect ratio instead of the 16:9 aspect ratio of most earlier Android (operating system) smartphones, including its predecessor, the Galaxy S7.[1]

The next day, Forbes and other media outlets reported on claimed photo and video "leaks" suggesting curved screens that will also be larger than the Samsung Galaxy S7 screens.[5] Speculation continued in March regarding the styling, and competition from other phones that were released at the Mobile World Congress. A more serious concern for Samsung was to convince the market that the phone would be safe, unlike the discontinued Samsung Galaxy Note 7, which was subject to a disastrous battery fault.[6]

South Korean news site Naver reported in the beginning of March that manufacture of the phone had commenced in Vietnam, and that at least 4.7 million would be manufactured in March.[7] The phone is expected to be launched simultaneously in key global markets.[8]
