Apple was expected to release the iPhone 8 in September 2017, in keeping with its annual autumn launch of major new products.

It has three models, two successors to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus, as per tradition.

But a third, pricier, anniversary device is believed to be on the cards too.

The delay is down to its new fingerprint sensor, experts in the manufacturing world have revealed.

They allege that the high-tech additions to the flagship phone, widely rumoured to be a new OLED screen and a fingerprint sensor, wont be ready for installation until September.

Due to high demand Apple will need at least a month to manufacture enough stock for its first weekend of sales, it's been claimed.

This could push the launch and release back to October at the earliest.
