Google Android Creator To Launch New Smartphone

Andy Rubin, the man who created the Android operating system, is planning his next big thing with a new startup called Essential, according to a person familiar with the matter. We're expecting a 2017 release but maybe later and the device wiithin the expensive category-maybe at around $600. Reports say that Foxconn is also developing a new phone. Rubin's new company is known as the "Essential", thus, the Essential phone name is given.

Following Rubin's official confirmation. he is putting all his bets on parallelelizing the domination of smartphones in the tech industry today.

Andy Rubin's high-end mobile phone will come with a large screen and no bezel, notes CNET. The smartphone will be made for a company called Essential Products Inc that now employs engineers who have previously worked for industry bigwigs such as Apple, Samsung, and Google.

With such a crowded smartphone market, it's hard to think that Rubin would establish yet another new entrant that doesn't differentiate itself significantly in some way. It aims to tie multiple devices together. Not content with releasing a run of the mill smartphone, Rubin is aiming to release an AI-based high-end premium device meant to compete with the iPhone and top-tier Android handsets like the Google Pixel. Engadget notes that Essential products at least partially grew out of Playground Global, which is focused on AI and quantum computing. After that he moved on to the new projects at the firm.

If all goes according to plan, Essential is hoping to have a product available for purchase as early as June of this year. Furthermore, sources say the phone is being designed with metal edges and a ceramic back, a material that's hard to manufacture but has been employed on devices such as the OnePlus X and the recently-released Xiaomi Mi MIX, which looks to be a source of inspiration for this alleged release. Essential is also "experimenting" with a 3D Touch-like feature that would allow its smartphone to detect different levels of pressure when users touch the screen. Today, Android is one of the most integral parts of the USA search giant's future. He is reportedly slated to open a new company named Essential which will comprise of a 40 member team of ex-Apple and Alphabet employees and make smart consumer electronics products like smartphones, smart home accessories and the likes.
