Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS Update for Nexus 6 is Now Rolling Out

In late December, we covered a news story that said that Google will release the Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS Update for Nexus 6 will be coming out in January. Today, many users have started noticing that the update is being rolled out for them. Google has delivered as they had promised. This is the last Nexus smartphone to get the Android 7.1.1 Nougat Update, as the Nexus 5, and other older devices will not be getting it.

Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS Update for Nexus 6 was delayed, and wasn't released along with the updates for the LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P because Google had said that there is a problem with the current update which is affecting only the users of the Nexus 6 smartphone.

In a statement addressing the delay, Google said in December: "Unfortunately, we found a last minute bug that was specific to the Nexus 6, which has caused the delay of the 7.1.1 OTA rollout. We've since fixed the issue and will be rolling out an update in early January."

However it looks like the company is now confident enough, and they have begun rolling out the Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS update for Nexus 6. The factory builds, and the OTA images (build N6F26Q) for Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS Update for Nexus 6 are now available on Google's Developers Website.

The Nexus 6, developed by Motorola is the oldest device in the Nexus series of smartphones to get this update. This is also likely to be the last major update the phone gets. With the Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS update for Nexus 6 rolling out, the phone will now be getting many new features and updates like the app shortcuts, rounder icons, new emojis, and much more. In addition to that, the Nexus 6 users will also be getting the January Android Security update. This is indeed something to be excited for, if you are a Nexus 6 user.
