Moto Z & Moto Z Force are official - release date and specs confirmed

However, this year, it points out that the release date could be moved up as the Moto Z phones will be announced on June 9. The premium device could have 4GB of RAM and 32GB internal memory support. The rear camera is a 13 MP unit with laser autofocus, OIS and dual-tone LED flash, while the selfie shooter is a 5 MP affair with a wide-angle lens.

Now, talking about the right stuff, the Moto Z Force is a tad thicker, i.e. 6.99 millimeters, it packs a bigger 3500 mAh battery, a better camera (21 Megapixels) with an F/1.8 aperture.

Let's take a look at the regular Moto Z, which in my opinion is the nicest phone Lenovo announced today... And then there are the Power Packs, which are battery packs that Motorola says will provide the Moto Z with up to 22 hours of extra battery life.

Parent company Lenovo is also rumored to phase out the brand name Motorola, but will keep the term Moto. It's a much more elegant solution than what LG has employed with the G5 (which requires you to remove the bottom portion of the smartphone).

But the two phones also accommodate so-called Moto Mods an array of magnetic connectors along the lower back of the phone that enable you to snap on an accessory such as a JBL loudspeaker.

You don't have to power down your phone and integration with the Android operating system is seamless. Lenovo showed off a few Moto Mods at the event and promised to launch some more in September when the phones go on sale. The Moto Z Force or DROID Force is the one you'll want to know about.

The Moto Z is sporting a 5.5-inch Quad HD (2560x1440 pixel) display.

JBL SoundBoost Speaker - Like a BoomBox strapped to the back of your phone, this Mod includes a kickstand and its own battery to offer up to 10 hours of booming sound at significantly louder volumes than the phone's regular speaker.

One thing we've got to see from these rumors is that the new Moto smartphones will get a lot of customization options. Just a day ago, the LeEco Le 2 and Le Max 2 were launched and they had no headset jack, instead asking the users to buy headphones with USB Type-C pin or an adapter that converts Type-C to the standard 3.5mm port. Enter Moto Z and Moto Z Force from Motorola, you will hear the same! They are either made from real wood, genuine leather or fabric patterns, allowing you to get the one based on your preferences. No word on pricing but the phones and the mods are expected to be available in the U.S. this coming summer.

Beleaguered smartphone maker Motorola is releasing two new flagship handsets, the Moto Z and the more expensive variant, the Moto Z force.
