Lenovo launches affordable Zuk Z2 smartphone in China for Rs 18400

Chinese electronics giant Lenovo's sub-brand ZUK on Tuesday launched a new smartphone in the market - Z2 smartphone.

The latest figures from consulting company International Data Corporation show Lenovo shipped 74 million smartphones in 2015, which gave it a 5.2 percent market share globally, ranked it in fourth place.

According to the specifications that we know so far, ZUK Z2 is going to be a smaller variant of the mighty ZUK Z2 Pro, which happens to feature 6GB of RAM.

Chen Xudong, senior vice-president in charge of Lenovo's mobile business group, said: "We will release another generation of ZUK, and an epoch-making Moto smartphone that target high-end users, in the second half of this year". Now, the much more affordable ZUK Z2 might feature 4GB RAM and a 5-inch display with a 1080p resolution, but the price tag is something that will get the consumers talking. The phone is fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor, along with the Adreno 530 GPU for graphics. As seen with the earlier ZUK devices, the ZUK Z2 also comes with a fingerprint sensor integrated into the physical home button on the front. The non-removable 3,500mAh battery is also a part of this package, and so is Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 tech, which means you'll be able to charge this phone's battery rather quickly. It measures 141.65 x 68.88 x 8.45 (height x width x thickness) and weighs 149.00 grams. Priced at CNY 1,799 (approximately Rs 18,400), the phone is now on ly available in China. Now, it is also worth mentioning that the company introduced a USB Type-C wireless charger for this smartphone, and it can be used with a charging cover. The device will go on sale from 7 June in China and registrations for the same begin today.
