Mobile World Congress or MWC is the largest gathering for the mobile industry in the world and is all about huge mobile tech announcements. It is organized by the GSMA and held in the Mobile World Capital Barcelona. MWC 2016 will be held on dates 22-25 February 2016. It comes shortly after the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in the trade show calendar. Many new devices are revealed and previewed. So, are you eager to know what can expect to see at Mobile World Congress 2016?
Check out the most anticipated smartphones, which are expected to release at MWC 2016:
1. Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 EdgeSamsung has often used MWC as an opportunity to focus the attention of the mobile technology world with its latest Galaxy devices. Last year, both the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge were launched at the MWC. This year at MWC 2016 we are expecting them to deliver both the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.
2. Huawei P9Huawei has sent out media invites for the MWC 2016 event. However, no teasers have been included in the same; which means there is no hint of what is coming next.
According to latest reports, it can either be the much speculated Huawei P9 or an upgraded smartwatch or a dual-boot notebook. Huawei did very well in the mobile market with some really great handsets last year, like Nexus 6P, Mate S and Mate 8.
3. Sony Xperia Z6Sony has some plans for the MWC 2016, with the invites going out we all have been guessing hard what's in store. Sony is expected to skip smartphones and focus on wearable updates. But as per rumors, Sony Xperia Z6 is coming soon at MWC in February.
The most killer specs in Xperia Z6 is a 4K UltraHD display, along with all favourite features from Xperia Z5. Adding further, Sony can also offer new camera features/tech to solidify this position.
4. Xiaomi Mi 5A teaser was posted on the social media by Xiaomi International Vice President Hugo Barra, which confirms that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be making an appearance at the MWC 2016 in Barcelona.
Recent reports say that Xiaomi Mi 5 will feature a 5.2-inch QHD (2560×1440) display, an 8-megapixel front-facing camera and 16-megapixel rear camera, 3,600mAh battery and 4GB of RAM. Xiaomi Mi 5 is also expected to be powered by Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 820 flagship processor.
5. Blackberry ViennaAfter the launch of the Priv, Blackberry's second Android smartphone offering is Vienna. This smartphone is expected to have a 5-inch touchscreen along with a keypad, which is Blackberry's signature feature. BlackBerry is trying to reassert itself in devices, so MWC 2016 is a crucial event for them.
6. HTC One M10HTC will also typically use MWC 2016 to present the latest in its flagship, The One series. HTC has been struggling hard in the mobile market; we can expect the company to showcase the HTC One M10 with all the main changes at MWC 2016.
7. OppoOppo has also released a teaser, and it's difficult to guess what we will likely get to see. Since the Chinese smartphone maker has not revealed much about its latest offering, we can take a guess based on its earlier talks, about a new F1 Plus model. We are expecting the new offering to be possibly a part of its F series smartphones.
8. LG G5The LG G5 is expected to come with an all-metal body with 32GB inbuilt storage, 5.3-inch 2K display, Qualcomm processor, a dual lens rear camera and a fingerprint scanner. This LG phone, along with Samsung Galaxy S7 is expected to be the most competitive model at the event and go hand in hand when it comes to competition.
9. HP FalconHP is expected to be all set to make a comeback in the smartphone market. The new offering from HP is supposed to be a Windows 10-powered smartphone. HP will reveal its new device at MWC 2016.
According to rumors, the phone is named as "HP Falcon", which is a flagship smartphone powered by the new Qualcomm processor. The features include Adreno 530 GPU, min 2GB of RAM, 20-megapixel rear camera with a 12-megapixel front camera.
10. Project AraGoogle's Project Ara a modular phone, which has been in the news for quite some time. This smartphone contains changeable components and is expected to release in 2016, mostly we are hoping to make its debut at the MWC.
Project Ara gives its users choice to opt for the battery size or camera of their preference. The user can even upgrade the components with passing time; there is no need for purchasing a new device if a particular part becomes outdated.
Many companies have already sent their invites out for Mobile World Congress 2016; this is raising the expectations of many to see some really mind blowing smartphones from the famous company around the globe this year at MWC 2016. Let's keep fingers crossed till then.
