New Delhi, Feb 18: The much-awaited sale of Freedom 251 has begun. The smartphone priced at Rs 251 is now available for online booking. Manufacturing company Ringing Bells' have initiated the first round of sale through it's website freedom251.com. Booking option on the site turned enabled right at 8 AM on Thursday morning. Online shoppers from all over India are racing to register themselves among the first list of buyers. With a price as cheap as Rs 251, few would like to miss the opportunity. To book Freedom 251, one would needs to log onto their website www.freedom251.com. Phone ordering process will be similar to other online sale websites. Ringing Bells' have claimed that all orders will be processed and delivered by June 30. However, there is an element of risk in it. A similar initiative made by tech manufacturers Datawind in 2011 turned into a blunder. The company launched a series of extraordinarily cheap tablets, Aakash, priced at Rs 2500. Their advertising ahead of the launch was identical to the newspaper ads published by Ringing Bells. Aakash not only proved to be a way too sub-standard product, but majority of the buyers did not receive their orders. Datawind had produced 2.5 lakh units of the gadget. But the order was unprecedented as 40 lakh customers made the booking. This eventually led to logistic crash and most of the buyers were not reverted. Freedom 251 was launched on Wednesday evening. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar was present at the launching ceremony. The product manufacturing has been 'heavily assisted' by the Indian Government. In the press release issued by Ringing Bell, it said that the smartphone will prove as a catalyst in Narendra Modi's vision to introduce another connectivity revolution in the nation.
