FCA And Ford To Show Off Smartphone Integration

The system was displayed in a Dodge Charger pursuit police auto and the 12.1-inch infotainment system is expected to be introduced in FCA's other production models.

Toyota might seem to be the odd one out in the automotive world with their respective infotainment systems, considering that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Ford have also recently announced that the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be integrated into their vehicles.

Additionally, the fourth-generation Uconnect systems now offers improved performance through faster startup times, improved capacitive touchscreen responsiveness, greater display resolution and brightness and better processing power. They will be part of the fourth generation of Fiat Chrysler's Uconnect touch-screen system. These new technologies will take the Uconnect system to an entirely new level of connectivity.

With these new features, the Uconnect infotainment system might be the best in the business.

iPhone users can use Uconnect to work Apple's Siri voice controls and the same facility is offered for the "Ok Google" and Google voice search applications in Android devices.

With the adoption of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, FCA joins GM, Honda, Hyundai, Audi and a growing list of automakers supporting these features.

The company says both smartphone systems will be available on some unspecified models worldwide starting later in 2016.
