1. More 2K & 4K Displays
2015 was a year of full HD screen smartphones. The number of pixels are being crammed into smartphone displays. Some flagship devices were launched with 2K or Quad HD displays. Quad HD means a resolution of 2560x1440 and very high pixel density. Some of the leading brands launched their flagship devices with 2K displays in 2015. Sony was the only company to launch a smartphone with 4K screen on Xperia Z5. We are expecting more and more brands to launch smartphones with 2K and 4K displays.
2. 3GB & 4GB RAM
The RAM in smartphone plays an important part in making sure that the device gives optimum performance. If lot of apps run in the background of the device, the RAM in smartphone manages the memory used by these apps. Till 2014, most of the smartphones were shipped with 1GB RAM. The year of 2015, we have seen most devices with 2GB RAM while, some flagship smartphones with 3GB and 4GB RAM. This year, most flagship devices will most likely have faster DDR4 RAM.
3. Fingerprint Scanner
Fingerprint scanner is a great way to secure your device. Fingerprint scanner has replaced the traditional way of passwords and combination of unlock pattern. The prints are saved the deice itself so security is not compromised. The technology became popular after Apple shipped iPhone with fingerprint scanner. Since then, many Android smartphones were shipped with fingerprint scanner. Manufactures have given an added advantage of registering multiple fingerprints too. You can have multiple users for the same device. This year, we are expecting fingerprint scanner enabled smartphones to be launched at under Rs 10,000 range.
4. Thinner Bezels
Bezels is the dark boarder around the screen. We have seen some of the gorgeous products with thinner bezels in 2015. Samsung's Galaxy Note 5 looks great with super-thin bezel. The thin bezel reduces the size of the smartphone too. We are expecting budget smartphones t o be launched with thin bezel in coming year.
5. USB Type-C
The adoption of USB Type-C has already started. Many flagship smartphones by OnePlus, Google and Gionee were shipped with Type-C charger. It has many advantages over current microUSB port. USB Type-C offers faster charging and it is compatible with USB 3.0 data transfer. There is a good chance that USB Type-C will become new standard for all smartphones.
