Samsung has been quite lay low on its products this year but it doesn't mean they are not brewing "the next big thing." It has been reported that Samsung's newest Galaxy S7 has been leaked by China Mobile, the world's largest telecommunications company with over 800 million subscribers.
A Weibo blogger posted a photograph that features the new Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy Edge. They also featured the release date range for Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (32GB). Alongside these big releases are the new Huawei Mate 8 and the ZTE Axon Mini.
Sources told Slashgear that the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge would follow Samsung's traditional release dates which usually coincide with the Mobile World Congress that will happen in February 2016.
Samsung will allegedly release more lines of smartphones in March like the Samsung Galaxy A7 and Samsung Galaxy A5 for the lower-tiered markets. At least one of these smartphones might be released in the U.S. sooner than the worldwide launch.
Samsung Shifting GearsAccording to Forbes, the immediate release of the new Samsung Galaxy S7 and Edge would mean that the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge had a limited lifecycle of 10 months. Galaxy S6 was launched last March and it was made available to the market in April.
Though there have been so many people who bought the Samsung S6 and S6 Edge over the holidays, this is a very good strategy for Samsung. As Forbes noted, this could actually give Samsung a "bigger head start on the new iPhone generations."
This is not the first time Samsung has implemented quite a drastic update. The huge Korean company also implemented a 10-month gap between Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note 5, which was launched last August. The Galaxy Note 5 had a one-month advantage over the iPhone 6S Plus. It was the same when they launched the Galaxy Note 4 which went ahead of iPhone 6 Plus.
If they would launch the Galaxy S7 this coming February, they would have a 7-month head start over the suspected September launch for the rumoured iPhone 7.
3 Big Galaxy RevealsSmartphones are getting slimmer and bigger with each and every launch, but Samsung is allegedly upping their game with the new Samsung Galaxy S7. According to SamMobile, Samsung will launch three variants of the Samsung Galaxy S7. It was rumoured that the new Samsung Galaxy S7 will not come in the normal flat screen model. It could be launched in the new curved screen variant with two different screen sizes.
The curved Samsung Galaxy S7s could follow the general standard and super-sized Plus versions that other Samsung lines had. If this will be implemented, Samsung will have been on top of the smartphone innovation again.
Samsung was not the first innovator of the curved smartphone display. LG has already done that with the LG G Flex series. Samsung tried to have a couple of the curved features with the Samsung Galaxy Round and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, but the new line is suspected to bring out the best of both worlds.
The Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge and Galaxy S7 Edge+ would be released in 2016 but could be launched at different quarters of the year. It was suspected that Samsung will focus the initial release on the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge on February so they can highlight the bigger versions, Galaxy S7 Edge + and Galaxy Note 6, on the latter part of the year.
Though the separate launch for the Galaxy note might not be the normal Samsung release strategy, Samsung might be trying to make a comeback with their Galaxy Note line.
