China market: Xiaomi to unveil new smartphone on November 24

Xiaomi Technology is expected to unveil its new smartphone the Redmi Note 2 Pro and Mi Pad 2 during a product event to be held on November 24. The product offerings may also include Xiaomi's first notebook model.
The new models come amid market speculations indicating that sales of Xiaomi's smartphones have been lower than expected recently and the vendor's efforts to increase its penetration in the high-end smartphone segment has been jeopardized, according to industry sources.
Xiaomi may ship 70 million smartphones in 2015, falling short of its shipment target of 80 million units set for the year, the sources indicated. Xiao said it shipped 34.7 million smartphones in the first half of 2015, up 33% from a year earlier period.
For overseas market, Xiaomi has shipped only about four million smartphones to the India market since the second half 2014, which were lower than market expectations, said the sources.
Since Xiaomi has been focused on entry-level models, its efforts to move into the high-end segment have been impaired by its brand image, commented the sources.
