Nexus 5 2015 release date update: Nexus 9, Nexus 6 price cuts signify upcoming release of new phone?

It seems that the 2015 edition of the Nexus 5 will be coming out soon as Motorola and HTC recently slashed the prices of the Nexus 6 smartphone and the Nexus 9 tablet for the entire month of August. Reports claim that the prices of the devices have been slashed in different countries around the world.

In a report posted by Telecompaper, Motorola is now selling its Nexus 6 handsets in Germany for €100 less than its original price. This means that the device can now be purchased for €489 instead of its original price of €589 with the use of a promotional code (DESUMMERSALE3). This promo will last until the end of the month.

Indian retailer FlipKart also offers a 5,000 rupees discount for its Nexus 6 device, which means that the 32 GB model of the Google smartphone is now only 29,999 rupees while the 64 GB version is now only 34,999 rupees.

The Nexus 9 tablet, packed with a high-resolution 8.9-inch display and Tegra K1 features, is also being sold for a more affordable price of $370.95 on eBay, while online retailer Expansys is now selling the tablet for only $348 instead of the usual $400 price tag.

Because of the price cuts, there are speculations that Google is now preparing to launch its latest Nexus 5 2015 device.

According to reports, the new Nexus 5 from LG will have a 5.2-inch P-OLED display with 1920 x 1080 pixel HD resolution, Qualcomm Snapdragon 620 processor, and 4 GB of RAM. The upcoming device will also have a 13-megapixel primary camera with laser autofocus and OIS support and dual-tone LED flash, and a clear 4-megapixel secondary front-facing camera for selfie shots.

Google is expected to release the latest Nexus 5 edition in the market sometime in October, since the past Nexus smartphones were also unveiled around that time. Confirmations are expected to come out soon.
