New OnePlus smartphone coming this year and it is not going to be One Plus 3 or OnePlus 2S

Weeks after the official unveiling of the much anticipated phone from OnePlus, the OnePlus 2, the company's CEO, Carl Pei, has announced yet another outstanding news about a new flagship that is being developed and will probably hit the market later this year.

According to the report by The Verge, Pei has recently announced their plans to release another flagship later this year, or specifically — and hopefully — around the Christmas season.

As for the name of this soon-to-be announced flagship, during the Ask Me Anything on Reddit via Phone Arena, OnePlus told fans that the next device is not going to be the OnePlus 3 or even the OnePlus 2S.

"Yes, those plans are still up but we can only tell you that this is not going to be called OnePlus 3 nor a OnePlus 2S," the company said.

In addition, Pei also announced on Twitter that the company is going to release the OnePlus 3 next year, which totally removes the third iteration from the equation.

However, during an interview with Pei, the CEO hinted out that this unnamed flagship is going to be amazing, to say the least.

"When I saw the prototype for that phone I was like 'holy s— that's going to be my daily driver,'" the CEO said via Techno Buffalo.

Unfortunately, the CEO did not add any other information regarding the details of this handset or even a teaser of the specifications. As for the rumor, Phone Arena suggested that there is a good possibility that this new flagship is going to be the OnePlus Mini.

Nothing has been written on stone yet though and these are all rumors based on fans' speculations. So for now, it is best to take the news with a pinch for salt and wait for the official announcement from the manufacturer.
